It's the biggest night in the Scottish social calendar and what better way to spend Hogmanay than in the beautiful Scottish Highlands?! Visit Loch Ness, Glencoe, Stirling, the Isle of Skye as well as the remoter and wilder parts of the Highlands. It's a superb tour with time for relaxation as well as seeing all the sights!

What's included in the kitty?!

  • Bubbly and fireworks on Hogmanay on the banks of Loch Carron.
  • Scrumptious New Years Day Roast Dinner!
  • Four nights in our cosy hostel on the banks of Loch Carron with amazing views!
  • Packed lunch on 2nd January.
  • All other evening meals and breakfasts.

Wednesday 29th December - Leaving Edinburgh at 8.30 am. we head straight for the Highlands. First stop is Stirling and Braveheart Country ( William Wallace, King Robert the Bruce and Rob Roy) - you'll hear all the history and legends, with plenty of walks and time off the bus. Then we wind through some of Scotland's finest glens, including Glen Garry, Glen Nevis and breathtaking Glencoe (hear about the massacre of Clan MacDonald). Then it's off to Stromeferry, our home for 4 nights, where we will be warmly welcomed with a glass of mulled wine!

Thursday 30th December - A full and active day round the Isle of Skye, with lots of walks and time to take in the magic. You'll see the Cuillin Mountains, the Old Man of Storr (an incredible Jurassic pillar) and hear some amazing legends, visit the fascinating Kilt Rock, and take in absolutely awe-inspiring panoramas in the Quirang.

Hogmanay, 31st December - We'll spend today in the local area, with stunning mountain views, remote lochs and superb waterfall walks through the rugged Torridon landscape.

Tonight we join the locals for a night of partying to bring in the new year. The bubbly and the fireworks will help give us a night to remember (or not!?).

New Years Day, 1st January 2011! - Today we have a lazy morning to cope with the late night the night before. For those that are up for it we will go for a walk in the forests while the meat roasts in the oven.

Back for a sumptuous roast dinner in Stromeferry.

Saturday 2nd January - This morning we'll begin with a spot of monster hunting on Loch Ness (of course!) before making our way to Culloden Battlefield for tales of the last Jacobean Uprising, and the last battle fought on British spoil. Our final stop (time allowing) is a gentle walk through the beautiful Hermitage Forest before arriving home to Edinburgh, tired and happy honorary Scots!!
