Pitlochry

Within the rolling agricultural hills of Perthshire where hedgerows and forests break up the fields, Pitlochry can be found. A picturesque Victorian town with a bustling high street lined with shops, woollen mills and hanging baskets. The local salmon ladder is a must see in late summer/early autumn with the mighty Atlantic salmon swimming through pipes with observation windows to the wonder of all onlookers.

Two distilleries can be found here. Blair Athol within the town itself and Edradour Scotland's smallest distillery, just a couple of miles outside.

In the surrounding area, you have gentle walks through glorious woodland with waterfalls cascading down such as in the Hermitage or at the Falls of Bruar. For the more energetic there are many walks up to the tops of the mountains and other local viewpoints.

History abounds the area with the Pass of Killiecrankie, the site of the first Jacobite uprising, Blair Athol Castle, home to the Duke of Athol and the nearby village of Moulin which predates Pitlochry by about 600 years.
